Our Beliefs
We hold to the historic apostolic Christian faith — the good news that has been believed and proclaimed by the Church across the centuries. As an evangelical church standing in the Protestant and Presbyterian tradition, we treasure the truths of Scripture and seek to live them out together. > "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8 ## The Bible We believe the Bible — the Old and New Testaments — is the inspired Word of God, fully trustworthy and our final authority for what we believe and how we live. We come to it expecting to meet God, to be changed by Him, and to be guided in every season of life. ## God We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — **Father, Son, and Holy Spirit** — equal in power and glory. He is holy, loving, and sovereign over all things, and He invites us into a living relationship with Himself. ## Jesus Christ We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, and rose from the dead. Through His death and resurrection, He has defeated sin and death and opened the way for us to be reconciled to God. He is our Saviour, our Lord, and the one true hope of the world. ## The Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer — giving new life, assuring us of God's love, shaping us into the likeness of Christ, and empowering us to live and serve. The Christian life is not lived in our own strength, but by His. ## Salvation by Grace We believe salvation is the free gift of God, received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We cannot earn it by our own efforts; we can only receive it with open hands. All who turn from sin and trust in Jesus are forgiven, adopted as God's children, and given eternal life. ## The Church We believe the Church is God's family — people of every background gathered around Jesus. We are called to: - **Worship** God together with reverence and joy. - **Grow** as disciples through the teaching of God's Word. - **Love** one another in genuine community. - **Serve** our neighbours and share the good news. We celebrate the two sacraments given by Christ — **Baptism** and the **Lord's Supper** — as visible signs of His grace and our shared life in Him. ## The Christian Life We believe faith is meant to be lived. As we follow Jesus, the Spirit produces in us love, joy, peace, patience, and a heart for others. We pursue holiness not to earn God's favour, but in grateful response to the grace we have received. ## Our Hope We believe that Jesus Christ will return, that there will be a resurrection, and that all who trust in Him will inherit eternal life with God. This hope shapes how we live today — with courage, generosity, and joy. ## Our Heritage Our convictions are summed up in the historic creeds of the Church — including the **Apostles' Creed** and the **Nicene Creed** — shaped by the Protestant Reformation and expressed in the Evangelical Presbyterian tradition. We stand with the worldwide family of Christians who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. --- Have questions about faith, or want to talk with someone? We would be glad to listen. **You are always welcome here.**
