About Us
Welcome to the **National Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Rabiya** — a community of people learning together what it means to follow Jesus. Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, there is a place for you here. ## Who We Are We are an **inclusive community** centered on the good news of Jesus Christ. As an Evangelical Presbyterian church in the heart of Rabiya, we are committed to **applying the truth of God's Word to everyday life** — in our homes, our work, our friendships, and our region. Our worship services are held primarily in **Arabic**, with simultaneous English translation available via headset. Each week we gather to worship God, to be encouraged and challenged by the Bible, and to care for one another as a church family. ## Our Mission > To know Christ, to grow together in faith, and to make Him known. Everything we do flows from the two great commands: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut. 6:5) and to love our neighbour as ourselves (Lev. 19:18). We long to be a church where people meet God, find genuine community, discover their gifts, and are sent out to serve. ## What We Believe We hold to the historic Christian faith — rooted in Scripture and the teaching of the apostles, shared by believers across the centuries, orthodox in doctrine, affirmed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds, shaped by the Protestant Reformation, and expressed in the Evangelical Presbyterian tradition: - **One God**, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. - **The Scriptures** are the inspired, trustworthy, and authoritative Word of God. - **Jesus Christ**, fully God and fully man, crucified and risen — our only Saviour and Lord. - **Salvation by grace** alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. - **The Church** is called to worship, to grow as disciples, to love one another, to proclaim the gospel, and to make disciples. - **The hope of glory** — Christ will return, and all who believe in Him will inherit eternal life. We celebrate Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the two sacraments given by Christ to His Church, signs of His grace and visible expressions of our faith in Him. You can read more on our [Our Beliefs](/p/our-beliefs) page. ## Our Heritage Our church is part of the **National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL)** — the historic Protestant and Presbyterian body in the region, with roots reaching back more than 200 years (1819). The church in Rabiya has been serving the community for about 40 years under the pastoral leadership of Rev. George Mourad. We treasure this heritage of faithful preaching, congregational care, and service to our community, while remaining a vibrant, welcoming church for today. ## A Word from Our Pastor Our congregation is led by **Rev. George Mourad**, who calls us to keep Christ at the center of all we are and do: > "The first reformer was Jesus Christ. When we are filled with the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22–23) and return to Jesus Christ, we can change society for the better." > > — Rev. George Mourad, Pastor ## What to Expect Planning your first visit? Here is what a Sunday with us looks like: - **A warm welcome.** Come as you are — you will be greeted as a friend, not a stranger. - **Heartfelt worship.** We sing, pray, and open the Bible together, in Arabic; English via headset. - **Teaching that matters.** Clear, practical messages rooted in Scripture and real life. - **Room for everyone.** Families, students, newcomers, and lifelong believers all belong. There is no dress code and no pressure — just an open door and a community glad you came. ## Our Values - **Scripture** — God speaks through His Word, and we want to listen and obey. - **Worship** — we were created to know and glorify God. - **Community** — we grow best together, not alone. - **Service** — faith expresses itself in love for our neighbour. - **Family** — every generation has a place among us. --- Whether you are exploring faith for the very first time or looking for a church to call home, we would love to meet you. **Come and see.**
